Favorite Historical Warship and Why?

By SeaDog78July 18, 2024

Simple question for everyone: what is your favorite historical warship? It could be for its design, its service record, or a specific story associated with it. For me, it has to be the HMS Hood. A beautiful ship, powerful, but with a tragic story that highlights the rapid evolution of naval warfare.

The USS Enterprise (CV-6). No question. The most decorated ship of WWII. She was everywhere, involved in almost every major naval battle of the Pacific War. A true legend.

I'm partial to the German pocket battleships like the Graf Spee. A fascinating concept trying to circumvent treaty limitations. A commerce raider that packed a serious punch.

The CSS H.L. Hunley. The first submarine to sink an enemy warship. Incredibly brave and incredibly dangerous for its crew. A true pioneer.
